China Camp State Park

One of the more fascinating historic sites in San Rafael, this 1,648-acre bayside park acquired its name from a Chinese fishing village that once flourished there. China Camp has hiking and horseback riding and biking trails with sweeping views of San Pablo Bay to the east, and San Rafael and the San Francisco Bay to the west. Boat launches, fishing piers, windsurfing, and plenty of picnic tables and barbecue pits round out the park's features.

Corte Madera Farmer’s Market

The Corte Madera Farmers Market is held every Wednesday, noon to 5pm, year-round @ The Town Center in Corte Madera, Off Hwy 101 @ Tamalpais. Farmers, food purveyors, bakers and more showcase their bounty along the Mediterranean style courtyard.

Golden Gate Ferry

The Golden Gate Larkspur Ferry departs from the historic San Francisco Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street and arrives at the visually stunning Larkspur Ferry Terminal in the heart of Marin County, just a short walk from Larkspur Landing shopping center. Once a quarry near San Quentin State Prison, the landing now features a delightful array of unique shops, wonderful restaurants and relaxing outdoor areas.

Golden Gate National Recreation Area

One of the world's largest urban national parks, Golden Gate National Recreation Area hugs the California coastline for nearly 60 miles in and around San Francisco. For our neighbors who live and work in the Bay Area, we are their "backyard" national park. Marin County Civic Center

The Marin County Civic Center was Frank Lloyd Wright's last major commission and is one of the famed architect's most distinctive designs. The Civic Center, which spans three hills, includes a lush, 11-acre lagoon and a 20-acre park. Also on the grounds of the Civic Center complex is Marin Center, the county's largest performing arts and convention facility. Buildings are open to the public for self-guided tours during normal business hours, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Volunteer docents lead a free one-hour tour of the Center by appointment only. The Marin Farmers Markets are one of the largest weekly social events in Northern California. There are various farmer’s markets in the towns of Marin. McNear’s Beach

McNear's Beach is one of Marin's most popular recreation areas, located off Point San Pedro Road near Peacock Gap. The 35-acre recreational area offers an outdoor swimming pool, fishing pier, two tennis courts, numerous family and group picnic areas with barbecues, and almost a mile of sandy beaches. Muir Woods

"This is the best tree-lovers monument that could possibly be found in all the forests of the world," declared conservationist John Muir when describing the majestic coast redwoods of Muir Woods. Muir Woods National Monument is a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA), one of the largest urban national parks in the world. GGNRA was established in 1972 and contains 75,398 acres extend from Tomales Bay in Marin County to San Mateo County in the south, encompassing 59 miles of shoreline - one of the nation’s largest coastal preserves.

Point Reyes
